The Project Challenge
The Office of Information Technology for the State of Georgia Department of Human
Resources sought to optimize the performance of the organization’s projects.
For DHR to effectively meet the FY 2003 strategic goals, objectives, and strategies,
they needed assistance in developing and implementing improved project management
processes.
A current state analysis was conducted for critical focus areas within
the department, including Applications Development, Production, Quality
Assurance, Help Desk, Vendor Management, and Customer Service. The current
state was compared to the desired state as the basis for determining
appropriate steps for improvement. The result was a roadmap for implementing
specific areas of improvement.
